Operation Send a Smile

On Friday, November 16th, 7th Grade Social Study Students from Twin Oaks and Hidden Oaks learned about military life in the day of an American Soldier in Afghanistan. Master Sergeant Mat Weber and Master Sergeant Russell are recipients of Care Packages sent by Prior Lake Middle School students in previous years as part of the program Operation Send a Smile.  The servicemen visited our school to help students understand the difference a care package can make as our 2012 Operation Send a Smile program gets under way.

6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Twin Oaks and Hidden Oaks are collecting items (gum, candy, beef jerkey, letters, etc.) for American Soldiers stationed overseas.  Last year, we mailed almost 120 boxes to different Soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Everyday, the freedoms that we enjoy are provided for us by an American soldier.  This is our opportunity to say thank you for the many brave men and women stationed around the world who are away from their families.  Supporting our troops is a gift we give ourselves as they serve on our behalf!  We will be supporting men and women in uniform and asking nothing in return except the honor of letting them know they are appreciated and never forgotten!  Please send your donations for Operation Send a Smile by Friday, December 14th.
