Host Families Needed

Friendly Exchange: a cultural family program dedicated to promoting peace and understanding between families in Guatemala and Minnesota.
The program is an 11 week program starting in late September and ending in mid-December. The Guatemala exchange students are ages 11-16 and attend school with their host siblings. We have found that the program brings a bonding to the whole class as well. Students work together to provide the exchange student with a wonderful experience. The program strives to match students with similar interests. Please respond ASAP, students arrive September 20th.
If interested please contact Friendly Exchange Delegate Heidi Preslicka phone 612-875-6630 email heidi@preslickastudio.com.

TOMS Conversation at Home!

Twin Oaks Parents:
If your middle school student is like so many others, it can become increasingly difficult to get much information about how their day at school went when having conversations at home in the evening.  Occasionally when asked, “How did your day go?” you might here “Fine”, or “What happened in school today?” you might here “nothing”.  If this has been you, check out the attached article that includes some tips on how to get a just a little more insight from your child.  Effective parent/child communication continues to be a key ingredient to a successful school experience, and furthermore, a well-adjusted adolescent.  Stay connected, stay involved!
