Exchange Student Program

Exchange Program Info Meeting, Prior Lake City Hall, August 31st 7:00 pm.

Friendly Exchange is looking for loving families who would be willing to open their hearts and homes to an exchange student from Guatemala. The students are ages 12-16. These kids will be placed in homes with students of the same age and gender. The program’s purpose is to promote peace and understanding by
providing a cultural exchange experience for the exchange students and their host families. This experience will foster a deeper understanding and
appreciation for other cultures, customs and way of living.

For more information there will be a meeting will be held at Prior Lake City Hall, Monday August 31st, evening at 7pm.  The group arrives September 25th.  Let us know if you are interested.  Heidi Preslicka (612) 875-6630 heidi@preslickastudio.com

The program is an 11 week program. Students arrive September 25th and depart December 12th. The exchange students attend school with their host
siblings. The students fund their own experience. All that is asked of host families is to provide room and board and to accept and love the exchange
student as one of their own. Many tremendous lifelong friendships have been formed through this program.

2014-2015 Junior Achievement Middle School Educator of the Year!

Junior Achievement of Upper Midwest announced that Melissa Wagner, business teacher at Twin Oaks Middle School in Prior Lake, has been honored with the organization’s award for outstanding educators, the Middle School Educator of the Year.

The purpose of the Middle School Educator of the Year is to recognize Junior Achievement (JA) educators who have performed outstanding service in making JA’s middle school programs available for their students. JA’s middle school programs reinforce the value of education and teach students about the economic benefits of staying in school. JA educators play a key role in bringing Junior Achievement into the classroom.

Melissa has been using JA Finance Park Virtual since the 2009-2010 school year and offered to be a program advocate when JA did its outreach to new educators in the spring.

According to a recent survey conducted by Junior Achievement USA®, 95 percent of JA teachers report that students who participate in JA have a better understanding of how the real world operates.

Congratulations, Melissa!!
