Join us March 6th in the Media Center from 2:20-3:20 pm to discuss Atlantia by Ally Condie.

From amazon.com—
For as long as she can remember, Rio has dreamed of the sand and sky Above—of life beyond her underwater city of Atlantia. But in a single moment, all Rio’s hopes for the future are shattered when her twin sister, Bay, makes an unexpected choice, stranding Rio Below. Alone, ripped away from the last person who knew Rio’s true self—and the powerful siren voice she has long silenced—she has nothing left to lose.

Guided by a dangerous and unlikely mentor, Rio formulates a plan that leads to increasingly treacherous questions about her mother’s death, her own destiny, and the corrupted system constructed to govern the Divide between land and sea. Her life and her city depend on Rio to listen to the voices of the past and to speak long-hidden truths.

Build ‘Em & Bust ‘Em Toothpick Bridge Building Contest 2015

On Friday, February 13th some of Mrs. Chappuis 6th graders from her Advance Science class will be taking a field trip to the University of MN campus to participate in a unique competition.  The competition is a challenge where these students have to build the strongest toothpick and glue bridge to bring along on the day of the event.  On the 13th, they will have to prove who’s bridge holds the most weight!  The event is hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers Minnesota and is sure to be a fun and exciting day for all the students.   We wish them luck!

Student Council Sponsoring WE CHANGE

This year Twin Oaks Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a WE CHANGE fundraiser from February 9 – February 13.  We will be collecting money to raise funds for sustainable projects in developing communities. Every $50 gives a goat to a family, empowering women and men to support their children and take charge of their futures.  As students raise funds to meet our school goal of 30 goats they will also be competing for fun incentives along the way. We encourage students and families to donate so that we can play our part in creating ‘Change’.
