Twin Oaks student Nicole Bellis has been selected for membership in the Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA) 6-8 Grade Honor Band for the 2012-2013 school year. Her director at Twin Oaks Middle School is Brian Melody.
Nicole Bellis was one of 82 students selected from 269 who auditioned this winter for a position in this group.
The students participating will have the opportunity to work with some of the finest music educators in the state as their section coaches, and will be conducted by Dr. Robert Ouren. The students will rehearse with Dr. Ouren on Saturday, April 20 at Chanhassen High School, and will then perform a concert at 2:00 PM on Sunday April 21, in the auditorium of Chanhassen High School.
The Honor Band program is an on-going project of MBDA, a professional organization of band directors representing band programs of all grade levels from throughout the state of Minnesota. The mission of MBDA is to assist in the development of band directors and band programs in schools, colleges and communities throughout Minnesota.
