Friendly Exchange: a cultural family program dedicated to
promoting peace and understanding between families in Guatemala and Minnesota.
Friendly Exchange is looking for loving families who
would be willing to open their hearts and homes to an exchange student from
Guatemala. The students are ages 11-16. These students will be placed in homes
with students of the same age and gender. The program’s purpose is to promote
peace and understanding by providing a cultural exchange experience for
exchange students and their host families. Hopefully, this experience will
foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for other cultures, customs and
way of living so much needed in these times.
The program is an 11 week program starting in late
September and ending in mid December. The exchange students are expected to
attend school with their host siblings. The students fund their own experience.
All that is asked of host families is to provide room and board and to accept
and love the exchange student as one of their own. Many tremendous lifelong
friendships have been formed through this program. Please consider this
